Royalty? What are the chances of me meeting two monarchs in such a short space of time.
[He tries to ignore the odd feeling of familiarity that he'd felt when he had met Queen Mara, the way he felt like he'd known the way around the Dreaming City.]
Thank you though, really. Tumenalia... what happens then? I mean, I'm assuming something sexual considering everything else here.
Not so bad if you know where to look. Was the other one here or back home?
[Because there was Segoriel and Caliban, if you wanted to count immortal kings of hell.]
You'd have a good guess for it. It's usually two fold. The one you can rely on is that the designations get temporarily switched around. Bodem, Crested, and Passing. They're assigned at random unless you're graduated, but they function similar to the ones we have. Bodem are like subs but they have to listen to Crested, the doms, and passing sits contentedly in the middle.
It'd be fine if that were all, but there's usually something else to deal with as well. Last year was just sex, but year before were shadow versions of ourselves that progressively got more aggressive the longer we didn't 'accept' what they were trying to tell us about ourselves.
Long story short, it might be nothing or it might be a massive mess.
I'm surprised they don't go with that system the rest of the time since they like splitting people up into ridiculous categories so much. You say they have to listen to the 'Crested'. Is that a spell? Something to force someone to obey?
...shadow versions sounds ominous.
[He thinks of the looks that people sometimes give him, the ones full of grief, and the ones of hatred. And he doesn't know why. Thinks of the dreams he sometimes has... Not. That's stupid.]
Queen of the Reef is an impressive title. Reef as in the sea?
Well, sometimes the extra effects are a complete swap for a day with subs acting as doms and reverse, had that once too. If they admit they could go with that, likely they'd have to admit their system of culture is bullshit from the start. Can't have that. Remind me to tell you about the designation switches sometime too.
But yes, it's like a spell. A compulsion. Hopefully you catch yourself on the Passing end and escape as unscathed as possible. To the rest we can only wait and see.
[Technically, this year, he could choose. Most of the people he knew who were graduated chose Passing to be as unaffected as possible...he still wasn't sure. If he chose Crested, he could at least gather up a friend or two to keep them safe, right? He was thinking about it, at least.]
No. The Reef is a collection of asteroids and space debris, ancient abandoned ships and the like. Many of the Awoken come from there, and they have hidden cities around the place.
How shocking to find that a place like this is lying about something so fundamental.
I'll keep my fingers crossed. Not too keen on being in service to someone again.

Here's to it being as boring as possible then.

If someone tries to fuck around, I know a few good places for storing bodies
[Not that death would stick, but it was half a joke.]
